First of all, Congratulations on the new addition to your family! We are delighted that you are thinking of contacting us about a Baptism or Thanksgiving.
Christian Baptism is about believing in God and joining the Church family. So the first thing to do is come to Church! Get to know the family you are joining and give us the opportunity to get to know you and your child. You can find service details here (link to quarterly leaflet). There is a crèche available and a play table for older children at every service.
Once we have seen you in Church for 4 or 5 visits one of the staff will then arrange to meet you and discuss the Baptism and Thanksgiving services with you, so that you can make an informed decision. The leaflet (link below) will give you more details of how we do things.
It may help you to know that we won’t book a date until after this meeting. The only exception to this is if it is second or subsequent Baptism.
There are important promises to be made during a Baptism service (when a child is being Baptised these are made by the Parents and Godparents). These are special promises about faith and how you will bring up your child. Sometimes parents decide that they don’t want to make these promises immediately but that they would like to say “Thank you” to God for the gift of their child and receive a blessing. You might then choose a Thanksgiving service and we are happy to talk about this.
Do you Baptise older children and adults?
The answer to this is “yes” we would love to. If you are old enough to make your own decision to follow Jesus and have not been Baptised as an infant then do come and get to know us and we would love to talk to you
If you would like to talk to one a member of staff please contact the Parish Office on 01332 510446.
We will take a few details from you and will ask a member of staff to ring you.
